The Lok Sabha was adjourned after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Budget for 2018-19 and will reconvene on Monday.

The lower House will remain adjourned on Friday as a mark of respect to sitting BJP MP from Maharashtra, Chintaman Wanaga, who died in New Delhi on Tuesday.

On Thursday, before the Budget was presented, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan made an obituary reference to the deceased member, and added that the House should have been adjourned for the day but could not be in view of the Budget presentation.

Wanaga, a three-time MP, was 67-years-old. There were no sittings of Parliament on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In 2017, the government went ahead with the Budget presentation despite the demise of former Union Minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader E. Ahamed, who had collapsed during the President's address to the joint sitting of the two Houses.
