Mercury rises in Himachal due to dry spell

Temperature across on Sunday showed a rise due to the prevailing dry conditions, which the Met said will be there till Tuesday, when the western disturbances will set in.

"There are chances of rain or snowfall in the high-altitude region on November 28," an (IMD) official told IANS.

The western disturbances -- originating from the and moving across the Afghanistan-region -- would be active in the region from November 27.

Most of the prominent tourist towns located in mid-hills, including Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Manali and Dalhousie, have been witnessing long sunny days, he added.

Keylong in Lahaul and district was the coldest place with a low of minus 2.9 degrees Celsius.

Shimla recorded 12.1 degrees Celsius, five degrees above season's average, while the minimum in Manali was 1.6 degrees, 13 in Dalhousie and 9.2 in Dharamsala.
