Nageswara Rao not 'critical', says grandson Sumanth

Legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao - ANR as he is popularly called - who recently underwent surgery for intestinal cancer, is currently "not critical", said his actor-grandson Sumanth.
"A rumour seems to be floating around that my grandfather is critical. It's not true! ANR is doing alright! Thanks for your concern," posted Sumanth on his Twitter page Wednesday morning.
Rao, 90, was diagnosed with cancer in October last year. He had publicly announced about it and requested his fans and well wishers not to shower sympathies on him.
With over a 70-year-old career comprising a filmography of over 250 films, ANR made his cinematic debut with Telugu film "Sitarama Jananam" in 1944.
Some of his best films include "Batasari", "Devadasu" and "Prem Nagar". He is currently shooting for Telugu family drama "Manam" with son Akkineni Nagarjuna and grandson Akkineni Naga Chaitanya.
