The Gujjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (GASS) launched agitation in the state on by blocking highways and traffic on the Mumbai-rail route. They are demanding five per cent reservation in government jobs and education institutions.

Talks between agitators and the government have failed so far. On Saturday, and visited Col near Malarna Dungar in the district to hold negotiations.

The Gurjars are classified as Other Backward Class (OBC) in some states and Union territories. In and some parts of Himachal Pradesh, they are categorised as a Scheduled Tribe.
