President accepts Maharashtra governor's resignation

President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of K. Sankaranarayanan who quit after his transfer from Maharashtra to Mizoram, a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan said Tuesday.

"Vinod Kumar Duggal, Governor of Manipur, will continue to hold the additional charge of the Governor of Mizoram, until regular arrangement is made," said the statement.

Sankaranarayanan quit Sunday following his abrupt transfer.
