Rainbow solar halo observed in Beijing

A round rainbow-like solar halo surrounding the sun was observed here on Monday, eyewitnesses said.

Onlookers captured the phenomenon that appeared on Sunday with photos and shared them on various social media platforms, the China Daily reported.

A solar halo, also known as nimbus, icebow or gloriole, is an optical phenomenon created when suspended ice particles in the clouds interact with the sun's rays.
