Sampdoria sign midfielder Alvarez for six months

Italian football club Sampdoria on Monday announced the signing of Argentina attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez until June 30.

"President Massimo Ferrero and everyone at U.C. Sampdoria are delighted to announce that Ricardo Gabriel Alvarez is now officially a Blucerchiati player," Sampdoria said in a statement.

The 27-year-old was on loan at English side Sunderland from Inter Milan.

Vincenzo Montella-coached Sampdoria, who are now 14th in the Serie A standings, face Genoa in the derby on Tuesday.
