Selena Gomez wants to surprise people

Singer-actress Selena Gomez says she wants to surprise fans by doing a negative role and trying something out of the box.

The 21-year-old shot to fame as a child actor in children's show "Barney & Friends" and "Wizards of Waverly Place".

"I have to do things that people don't expect me to do. I have to surprise people instead of being a part of the next teen comedy because I have done that," hollywoodlife.com quoted Gomez as saying.

"I want to dye my hair black and be a bad a**. I think it's fun, I think it's good for me," she added.
