Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Saturday warned Indian fishermen against entering the country's waters.
Wickremesinghe said the issue of Indians poaching into Sri Lankan waters is a major concern, adding if the Indian fishermen use smaller boats, then his country will be ready to consider allowing Indians to fish in a particular region, Xinhua reported.
However, he said there has not been any agreement so far to allow Indians to catch fish in Sri Lanka and Indians who enter into the Sri Lankan waters illegally will be arrested.
Also on Saturday, seven Indian fishermen who were allegedly abducted by armed Sri Lankan fishermen returned to Tamil Nadu.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reached Colombo on Saturday and met Wickremesinghe on her first day of trip to set the stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Sri Lanka next week.
