Teenager drowns in Delhi lake

A teenager was drowned while bathing in a lake in west Delhi's Kanjhawala area, police said on Friday.

Police said 15-year-old Raj Jha, who, along with friends Prabhat, Masoom and Sattan, had gone to take a dip in a lake in Shiv Vihar, drowned around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

"Raj waded into deep water and drowned before his friends could summon help from local residents," a senior police officer said.

Divers later fished out the body from the lake. Raj was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital, he said. Raj stayed with his family in Kirari Suleman Nagar.
