Two Delhi civic officials suspended

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation Monday suspended two officials over a case of attempted suicide by a sanitation worker.
"South Delhi Municipal Corporation has suspended a sanitary inspector and an assistant sanitary inspector of Najafgarh zone with immediate effect in an attempt to suicide case of a safai karamchari (sanitation worker)," said a statement from the civic body.
Phool Singh, a sanitation worker, tried to commit suicide Saturday by setting himself on fire. He is currently admitted in Safdarjung hospital.
Police are investigating the case, and till the probe is over the officers will remain suspended, a municipal official told IANS.
