Lisbon, June 15 (IANS/WAM) The UAE's ambassador to Portugal, Saqr Nasser Ahmed Al Raisi, attended a reception on the occasion of Portugal's National Day.
Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva, Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho and members of the Portuguese government were present at the programme.
Every June 10, the Portuguese celebrate this national holiday known as "Dia de Portugal" in their native tongue.
The day commemorates the death of Luís de Camões, a significant figure in the history of the country. Camões is known for his work on Lusiadas, the national epic poem of Portugal that celebrates the country's successes and rich history.
