Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has honoured the Jagdguru Kripalu Parishad (JKP) Education Trust for its contribution to the education of girls, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.

The award was given as part of an event organised here by Zee TV Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand channel that was also attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

JKP Trustee Ram Puri, who received the award, said the trust has taken "the initiative of elevating the social, educational and economic level of the rural girl child in the Mangadh region".

The trust has established three educational institutes in Kunda, Pratapgarh district - the Kripalu Mahila Mahavidyalay, Kripalu Balika Intermediate College and Kripalu Balika Primary School - which together provide free education to almost 6,000 girls.

JKP President Dr Vishakha Tripathi said the institutions aimed to give the girls self-respect and also make them self-reliant, adding that students were enrolled irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
