Business Standard New Delhi
This has never happened in recent times. In July, Padmini Rathor, the daughter of one of Jaipur's royal families, the Kanota Thikana, got engaged to Kunwar Karni Singh Soda, whose father, Rana Hamir Singh Soda of Amarkot, is a member of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP). So the lagan and teeka (two important ceremonies in royal weddings) will go from India to Pakistan on December 7, the date of the wedding.

Rana Hamir Singh Soda's late father, Rana Chandra Singh, was a minister in Pakistan's PPP government. The wedding is going to be an intricate affair as guests from India want to go to Pakistan and from those from Pakistan want to come to India: both venues of the wedding. And they are all patriotic citizens of their respective countries, as firing continues on the border.
