The Janata Dal (United), which leads a government in Bihar, held a conference of minorities at New Delhi's Constitution Club on Wednesday. Party president Sharad Yadav was the chief guest and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the "distinguished guest". The conference was to start at 11 a m but the large hall, which seated nearly a thousand people, had only a handful of people till as late as 12 noon. Yadav arrived on the dais only after attendance reached respectable proportions by 1 p m. Kumar, however, didn't make an appearance.
