The space crunch in North Block has forced many officers to share rooms, but two officials from different wings of the finance ministry are more than happy to share. When a female officer in the department of economic affairs was recently promoted she was told that office space was not immediately available and she would have to share for a while. The official concerned readily agreed and even proposed the name of an officer in another department with whom she could share. The other officer was her husband. Now, if only the finance ministry could identify more such couples it could utilise office space more efficiently.
