But Narendra Modi's style - from his personalised pin stripes to his colourful turban at the Republic Day parade and his penchant for lingering handshakes with US President Barack Obama - seems to have fascinated the Western media, judging from the coverage of India's 66th Republic Day in The Guardian, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, among others. Should Modi be flattered? Well not, according to Robert Johnston, the style director of GQ magazine, who was quoted in The Guardian saying, "What is he - a world leader or someone going to a photocopying conference in a Travelodge?"
