The wrong snoopgate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government may be close to completing two months at the Centre, but some of its leaders continue to behave like spokespersons of the party and not the government. At a recent press meet, a Union minister was asked a question on surveillance. Even before the reporter could finish the question, the minister started justifying the party's stand on a pre-election controversy over surveillance of a woman in Gujarat. The organisers had to politely intervene and tell the minister that the reporter actually wanted a response on the latest controversy around alleged electronic monitoring of the BJP by the US. The minister quickly changed tack and politely requested journalists to ignore the faux pas.
