ICICI Lombard General Insurance, India's largest private sector general insurance company, has launched a new travel insurance product International Travel Insurance. The policy provides overseas medical insurance along with coverage for all trip related risks. It caters to the needs of not only international travellers but also the insured’s family back home, while he is travelling.
International Travel Insurance provides coverage on a host of medical and non-medical expenses that the policyholder may incur while travelling abroad. The company’s tie-up with US' United Health Care (UHC) helps take care of the insured's bill settlement directly while enabling the insured to avail cashless hospitalisation across a wide network of hospitals.

This policy will provide insurance to traveller’s up to the age of 85 years without any medical check-up. This policy provides value added assistance services for the insured’s dependents in India. These include services pertaining to medical concierge, automotive assistance and lifestyle related amongst others offering additional convenience. Catering to the needs of frequent travellers, the policy also provides option of a multi-trip policy. One can purchase the policy online also.

Premium for a 36-year old travelling to the US for 10 days will be Rs 1,000 for $100,000 (Rs 50-55 lakh) cover. There is a special Asia plan for those travelling to neighbouring country. For a 36-year old the Asia plan will charge a premium of Rs 300-400 as the medical costs are lower in Asia.
