Congress party on Friday strongly demanded the dissolution of BJP government in Maharashtra being unconstitutional and illegitimate.
Congress delegation comprising former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan met state Governor C Vidyasagar Rao and took serious objection against the trust vote passed through voice vote in the state assembly without following the due Constitutional provisions as to asking how many were against the motion of confidence.
Further, Congress party appealed to the Governor to suspend or keep in abeyance all decisions taken by the BJP government till the government proves the majority on the floor of the house. This is necessary as the government lacks legitimacy.
In a related development, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated that Congress and Shiv Sena can move a no confidence motion against his government if they have objections against the trust vote passed on November 12. Fadnavis in a bid to further embarass BJP's former ally Shiv Sena said the some of the legislators of Shiv Sena were had walked out of the assembly when the confidence motion was moved.
Interestingly, NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal had said that some Shiv Sena legislators were not present in the house and he had thereby blamed the party for lack of proper floor management.
However, Shiv Sena said the government will have to prove majority on the floor of house at it was not clear how it has achieved a simple majority of 144 in the 287 member state assembly.
