Early trends show BJP, Congress neck and neck in Chhattisgarh

These trends were from the postal ballots being counted

IANS Raipur (Chhattisgarh)

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was leading in eight out of the 15 seats for which initial trends of counting of votes were available for the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly elections Sunday morning.

The Congress was leading on seven. One of these seats was in the Maoist-affected Bastar area.

These trends were from the postal ballots being counted.

The BJP had won 11 seats in the Bastar belt while the Congress had only one seat in the area in the outgoing assembly.
