Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's name has been finalised as the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate ahead of the 2014 general elections, a top Shiv Sena functionary indicated here Friday.
"BJP chief Rajnath Singh spoke to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray this afternoon and has conveyed the decision in the matter," a top party officials told IANS.
Rajnath Singh also sought the support of Thackeray and the Shiv Sena for Modi for the top position, the official, requesting anonymity, said.
The formal announcement on Modi will be made by the BJP later in the day, he added.
