A delegation of pro-Telangana leaders today met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and urged him to take expeditious steps for creation of the proposed new state.

The delegation, comprising leaders of different political parties, students and social organisations conveyed to Shinde that delay in creation of Telangana would only create further resentment in the region, sources said.

The pro-Telangana leaders made it clear to Shinde that Hyderabad is part of the Telangana region and there would not be any compromise on it.

After the delegation's meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy also met the Home Minister and discussed with him the prevailing situation in the state.

Following a resolution of Congress CWC favouring creation of Telangana, the Home Ministry has been directed to prepare a note to place it before the Union Cabinet for creation of Telangana.

When the cabinet approves the proposal, a group of ministers will be constituted to go into the details of the division of the state.

That is likely to be followed by a resolution being sent to Andhra Pradesh Assembly regarding the formation of the new state. After formation, Telangana will be the 29th state of India.

The CWC, which met on July 30, passed a resolution requesting the Centre "to take steps in accordance with the Constitution to form a separate state of Telangana... Within a definite time-frame".
