Bill kept in abeyance in Meghalaya

The Committee has decided to keep the Bill in abeyance for examination as the people needed further enlightened and clarification on certain doubts and reservations, Urban Affairs Minister A Lyngdoh who headed a seven-member committee said in her report tabled in the first day of the Autumn session.

The Select Committee was constituted in April last year for statewide consultation with stakeholders in all the municipalities ahead of the implementation of the Bill.
