Kamei, a former higher education minister and well-known historian, has also been nominated as an executive committee member of the state unit of the party, Chaoba said.
Kamei who represented Nungba assembly constituency in Tamenglong district was given a warm reception at the party office at Nityaipat Chuthek here last evening.
Kamei, a senior Naga leader, was teaching at Manipur university for over 20 years before setting up the Federal Party of Manipur some ten years ago, party sources said.
