Press Trust of India  |  Latehar (Jharkhand)

Trititya Prastuti Committee, a breakaway group of the CPI (Maoist), today attacked the convoy of Superintendent of Police Kranti Kumar near NH-75 in the district, but were repulsed.

The TPC cadres fired from a hill near Barirampur village under Chandua police station on the convoy which was returning from a two-day search operation, Kumar said.

About 30 to 35 rounds were exchanged with the police using mortars to repulse the attack, he said.

There was no casualty, he added.
