'The Flame of Truth' relay reaches Kolkata

The flame was handed over by Jampa Novling, co-ordinator of Rabangla Tibetan Community, to city-based Tibetan activists Santashree Choudhuri, Vineet Ruia and Dr Tenzing.
It will proceed to Bodhgaya from here tomorrow and reach the UN office in New Delhi on December 10, when World Human Rights Day is celebrated.
The 'Flame of Truth' began its global journey on July 6, coinciding with the 77th birthday of the Dalai Lama, to express solidarity with the Tibetan issue.
Choudhuri said signatures were being collected in support of their demand for submission to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The campaign is meant to appeal the United Nations to discuss the issue of Tibet based on its earlier resolutions, send an independent international fact-finding delegation to Tibet and to take special responsibility to ensure that the basic aspirations of Tibetans in Tibet are fulfilled.
