A devotee was killed and 18 others were injured when a mini bus in which they were travelling overturned after colliding with a tractor trolley near Chudewal village today.
According to police, a mini bus carrying the devotees was going to nearby Gurudwara Nagiana Sahib in Amritsar district from Batala.
The bus was overcrowded and a number of devotees were also sitting on the roof, police said.
The incident took place when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle when he tried to save the devotees, sitting on the roof, from getting hit by a tree, they said.
Ashok Kumar, a resident of Bhandari Mohall here died while others sustained injuries and were admitted in the Civil Hospital here.
A case has been registered against the bus driver who escaped from the spot after the incident.
