1 killed, 13 injured as gas tank explodes in China restaurant

One person was killed and another 13 were injured when a gas tank exploded in a restaurant today in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said.

The blast occurred in Dongguang City in the kitchen of the restaurant on Qifeng Street at 12:10 pm (local time).

According to preliminary investigation, a gas tank in the kitchen exploded and the ceiling collapsed.

All the injured people have been sent to a nearby hospital. Some of them are severely wounded, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
