1 killed, 5 injured as rains lash parts of UP

A woman was killed and five others were injured as rains lashed parts of Uttar Pradesh since yesterday.

Jai Devi (30) died after being hit by lightning while she was working in the field in Sanatpur village of Suryawan area, police said today.

Renu (25), Sushila (22), Savita (15), Neelam (16) and Jhanna (70) were injured and have been admitted to a hospital.

Light to moderate rains and thunder showers occurred at many places over the state, the MeT department said.

The amount of rainfall recorded in Churk was 12 cm, Robertsgunj 11 cm, Sahabad 10 cm, Ghorawal, Chadauli, Ghazipur 8 cm each and Allahabad 7 cm.
 

The MeT Department has forecast rains and thundershowers at isolated places over eastern parts of the state tomorrow.
