An 11-year-old boy allegedly
committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence here today, police said.
Shravan Shetty, resident of Shantinagar in suburban Kandivali, was a class 5 student.

When he went to his tuition this morning, the teacher sent him back saying he had brought a maths textbook which was not scheduled for today and that he should go home and bring science and history ones.
When the boy didn't return, the teacher sent his elder sister home to find out where he was. The girl found her brother hanging from an iron bar with a stole tied around his neck at their house, police said.
The children's mother was at work at the time. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem, Kandivali Police said.
Police are probing the reason for the alleged suicide, though no suicide note was found from the spot.
Shravan's father had committed suicide about three years ago, police said.

A local court later sent Das to police remand till March 7.
A senior police officer said what Das has been claiming could be misleading. "We are also looking into other angles, too."
Asked whether there could be involvement of other persons besides Das in the murder, he said "We are not ruling out anything.
