An 11-year-old boy sustained a bullet injury while playing outside his house at east Delhi's Ghazipur area, even as the source of the bullet could not be traced by the police.

The incident was reported around 10 PM yesterday when Shoaib was playing outside his residence at a JJ cluster in the area when something hit his arm, police said.

He was rushed to a hospital where doctors surgically extracted shards of a bullet shell from his arm, police said.

"A case has been registered under Section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC and investigation is underway," said DCP (East) B S Gurjar.

It is suspected that the bullet came from one of the marriage parties nearby, where people were allegedly celebrating by firing shots, a police official said.

Security guards of banquet halls, locals and persons associated with marriage celebrations in the area yesterday night are being questioned, the official added.
