12 new Allahabad HC judges sworn-in

Twelve new judges of Allahabad High Court were today sworn-in, raising the total number to 90 as against sanctioned strength of 160.

They were administered oath of office by Chief Justice Dhananjay Yeshwant Deshmukh this morning inside the Chief Justice's court here.

Among the newly sworn-in judges are two women - Justices Ranjana Pandya and Vijay Lakshmi.

Others who were administered oath of office include Justices Vivek Kumar Birla, Attaur Rehman Masudi, Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Rajan Roy, Akhtar Hussain Khan, Arvind Kumar Mishra, Anant Kumar, Harsh Kumar, Shashi Kant and Om Prakash.

While Justice Birla and Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra had been advocates at the High Court here, Justice Masudi and Justice Roy practised law at the Lucknow bench.
 

The remaining judges had been serving at different posts of Uttar Pradesh judicial services.
