13 die as truck carrying passengers overturns in Cuba

Cuban officials say a truck carrying passengers has crashed in the eastern part of the country, killing 13 people and seriously injuring nine more.

The state-run Radio Cadena Agramonte reports that police say the driver apparently crashed while trying to pass another vehicle Saturday at a spot called La Virginia on the highway between Camaguey and Santa Cruz del Sur.

It says an 8-year-old boy was among those who died and five minors are among the injured.
