15.5 quintal poppy husk seized, 1 held

An alleged drug smuggler was arrested and 15.5 quintal poppy husk was seized from his possession in Bhiwani district today, police said.

He was arrested following a raid on his house after a tip-off that he was a member of a drugs gang and had received a large amount of poppy husk on Friday, they said.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he used to buy poppy husk from Rajasthan and would then stock it at his residence, from where it was supplied to smugglers in Haryana and Punjab, a police spokesman said.

He said he has links with well-known smugglers in Punjab and Haryana, the spokesman said, adding investigations are on.
