15 held for indulging in stone-throwing outside polling booth

Around 15 persons were today arrested for allegedly indulging in stone-pelting outside a polling booth prompting police to open fire in the air to disperse the mob, police said.

Nobody was hurt in the firing as it was a precautionary measure to disperse the crowd of two groups who indulged in fighting and stone-throwing at each other when Sarpanch and Panch's polls were underway, Superintendent of Police, Bharatpur, said.

Fifteen persons were arrested for creating law and order problem, he said.

The polling, however, went peacefully.

The election process was not hampered due to this minor incident, Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh told PTI in Jaipur.
