Heavy fog today cancelled, delayed, or diverted more than 180 flights at a busy international airport in northwestern China's Xinjiang region.
According to the Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, 72 flights had been cancelled, 69 delayed, and another 42 were diverted to nearby airports as of this evening.
Fog has lingered in Urumqi, the capital Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, as temperatures rebounded this month, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The city has had more than 10 foggy days in December, surpassing the average of 8.4 days with fog in December over the past three decades.
A strong gale also hit Xinjiang today, stranding 320 people on highways in Maytas, known for strong wind and blizzards.
