Two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASI) were injured today in an incident of stone pelting by some miscreants during an anti-encroachment drive in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

A police officer said that some miscreants, persuaded by a duty magistrate, had put resistance during the drive.

"An anti-enroachment drive was carried out under the supervision of tehsildar of Rajouri at Nagrota in the district," the officer said.

"A police party was also deputed to the spot for the protection of a revenue official. The frenzied mob pelted stones on the police party resulting in minor injuries to ASI Qayoom and Tufail Ahmed," he said.

However, additional manpower led by Station House Officer (SHO) immediately rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, the police officer added.

"The revenue authorities successfully accomplished the anti-encroachment drive with the protection provided by the police," he said.

The police has taken the cognisance of obstruction imposed by the miscreants and attack on police and civil officers and booked them in the case, he said.

"The five accused, including two women, have been arrested in the case," the officer said.
