Two children were killed and two others injured after the terrace of a building that was closed for the last two years collapsed in West Delhi's Nihal Vihar area.

Bharti, Sonam, her brother Satyam and Monika were playing outside the house when the terrace of the house, where a washroom was built, collapsed yesterday evening, a senior police officer said.

Bharti (5) and Sonam (6) were declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital. Sonam's brother Satyam escaped with minor injuries and is on the road to recovery but Monika's condition continues to be critical, added the officer.

The two-storey building is owned by one Harman Singh, who has been staying abroad for the last five years, said the officer.

Since the building had been closed for the last five years and there was nobody to look after it, the structure had grown weak and collapsed, added the officer.

A case has been registered against the owner and efforts are on to find him.
