Five persons, including two women, were today killed and four others injured when a van carrying them rammed into a roadside tree near here today, police said.
The victims hailing from Chitvel in Cudapha District were travelling in the van to Chennai airport when the driver lost control and the vehicle hit the tree at Mamandur, 25 km from here.
Of the deceased, two women were on their way to Kuwait where they got a job and the others accompanied them to see them off at the airport, police said.
The injured, including the van driver, have been admitted to the Government Hospital here.
