2 teenagers arrested for friend's death in firing

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a recent case of unnatural death by firing in Sonari locality of East Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said.

Police arrested Rahul Soleman (18) and Bobby Mandal (19) in connection with the death of one Virendra Soni alias Bigu, who succumbed to bullet injuries in course of treatment at the Tata Main Hospital on January 28, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkdar said.

Police lodged a case of murder against unidentified persons.

Three youths including Soleman had rushed Bigu to hospital following the incident, he said.

Acting on a tip-off, Homkar said police has picked up Soleman and Mandal, who was a resident of Birsanagar here, for interrogation.
 

They claimed to the police Bigu was not murdered but killed in an accidental firing from the fire-arm he brought for Soleman.

As they were under the influence of ganja, Soleman told police that the trigger accidentally went off while checking the weapon and Bigu suffered a bullet injury in his chest.

Police recovered a six-round country-made pistol, a live cartridge and an empty cartridge shell, Homkar said.
