23-year-old farmer ends life in Maharashtra's Akola district

A farmer committed suicide in Akola district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, police said today.

Mangesh Rambhau Nachankar (23) hanged himself from a tree on his farm at Bordi village under the jurisdiction of Akot Rural Police Station yesterday, an official said.

Police are investigating what led him to take the extreme step.

"We are investigating whether it was due to debt burden," said Milindkumar Bahakar, senior police inspector.
