25 kids rescued

Delhi government today rescued 25 children working various shops and establishments in Yusuf Sarai Market and Gautam Nagar areas of Hauz Khas subdivision.

The rescue operation was carried out by office of the district magistrate of south Delhi under the leadership of SDM Hauz Khas and DM South Niharika Rai.

According to government, the operation was done after getting information about some children in production units and shopping arcades. A special drive was conducted to rescue the children and they were sent for medical examination.

Rai said that the drive was today conducted in Yusuf Sarai Market Aurobindo marg and Gautam Nagar areas of Hauz Khas subdivision under SDM Hauz Khas Shivam Teotia and various shops and temporary structures were sealed where small children were found being used for commercial works in deplorable conditions.
 

"25 children in all have been rescued and have been taken for medical examination. Strict action is being taken against the offenders under Child Labour Act, Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 juveniles justice (Core & Protection of Children) Act and Rules," the DM said.
