26 TN fishermen attacked, abducted by AP counterparts

In a complaint lodged with the C Sureshkumar, representatives of fishermenfrom Akkaraipettaipanchayat said 10 fishermen of Nagapattinam were today attacked by the fishermen near Nellore coast, leaving three seriously injured.

The three have been admitted to hospital, Anandavel, who led the delegation of representatives, said.

The other seven fishermen were abducted in a mechanised boat, he alleged.

Yesterday, 19 Nagapattinam fishermen were attacked and abducted in two mechanised boats by their counterparts, Anandavel alleged.

The Akkaraipettai fishermen panchayat representatives have urged the state and Union governments to secure the release of the 26 fishermen and the three boats.

CPI has condemned the attack and urged the to ensure proper treatment and compensation for the affected fishermen.
