3.73 kg heroin seized, 2 held

Two persons were arrested and 3.73 kg of high quality heroin worth around Rs 15 crore was seized from a car here in Darjeeling district, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials said.

Acting on a tip off, SSB personnel intercepted a car at Panitanki check post on Indo-Nepal border, searched it and found a packet containing the drug.

An Indian woman and a man from Nepal were arrested in this connection, the officials said.

The woman, hailing from Aizawl, had reached Kathmandu from New Delhi by a flight on August 17 and she was suppose to board the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express from New Jalpaiguri station to return to the national capital.
 

Her plan was to sell the heroin in Delhi, the officials said.
