Three members of a family, including two children, were killed and two others injured when their motorcycle collided head-on with a trailer-truck in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said today.

Later, angry locals torched the truck and blocked the accident site after which four persons were arrested, they said.

The victims, hailing from Jamabira village, were returning home on the motorbike after visiting a Dussehra fair at Dharamjaigarh town last evening when the two-wheeler collided with a truck near Sisringa village.

The deceased, identified as Rohit Rathiya (30), his younger brother Santram (8) and niece Shanti (13), were killed on the spot.

The injured have been admitted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, police said.

Enraged over the incident, locals set the trailer afire and blocked the accident site, demanding compensation.

However, they were later pacified by the police and district administration officials who assured them of appropriate action in this connection.

A case has been registered against the absconding truck driver, they said, adding that further investigation is on.

An offence was also registered against over a dozen villagers and four of them were arrested on charges of torching the vehicle, interrupting official proceedings and others, they added.
