Three members of a family were today shot dead allegedly by their relatives following a dispute at Mahuauri village in Palamau district, police said.

Fifty-year-old Ajay Kumar Singh and his two sons - Chandan Kumar Singh (24) and Vikrant (20)- were shot dead allegedly by their relatives Alok Kumar Singh and Vinay Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Mayur Patel said.

While Ajay died on spot, Chandan and Vikrant succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Hussainabad, he said.

Patel said according to preliminary probe, Ajay wanted to install a flour mill in his house and this was opposed by Alok and Vinay, who lived adjacent to the victim's house, and this triggered a dispute last night.

Ajay, accompanied by his two sons, registered an FIR under Hussainabad police station today and were returning home when the accused duo intercepted them mid-way and shot them dead, the SP said.
