In a sensational case, a 38-year-old man allegedly murdered his father over a property dispute and then drove the body to a secluded place where he set the car ablaze to make it look like an accident.
The accused, identified as Abhinav Baweja who worked as a manager with a publication house was arrested in this case by the police.
"We have solved the brutal murder of a senior citizen, identified as Subhash Baweja (65) within 12 hours of the commission of crime with the arrest of Abhinav Baweja, who was the younger son of the deceased. The accused is a Manager in a Publication House and wanted have his own business for which he was in need of funds," said DCP (South-West) R A Sanjeev.

He had pressurised his father to transfer a property in his name so that by disposing off the same he can get funds for business and buy a house for himself, but his father refused and as a result they used to have frequent heated arguments. With the passage of time he developed utmost hatred for his father and at last stage planned to murder his own father, he added.
Police had got a call yesterday at 09:32 AM regarding a burnt car near Kirpa farms, Kapashera. When a police team reached the spot, a burnt body of an unidentified elderly male was discovered in the car. A massive operation was launched to identify the dead body and after much effort the registration number was found and the deceased was identified as Subhash Baweja.
A case was registered and investigation was taken up. Through technical surveillance and secret information network, it came to fore that the deceased was having dispute over property with his own younger son Abhinav Baweja, who wanted property to be transferred in his name for which the deceased refuted.
"Abhinav Baweja was apprehended from his house from Kirti Nagar and was interrogated at length. He disclosed that on Wednesday night, following a heated argument, he attacked his father with a baseball bat and strangulated him with cloths to confirm his death and wrapped the dead body in bed sheet," said Sanjeev.
He took the dead body in his Maruti Esteem car and wanted to go to Gurgaon, Haryana to dispose it off but due to heavy rush of traffic turned back and found a lonely place near Kirpa farms, Kapashera where he removed all the cloths and belongings from the body of his father and car before setting the vehicle ablaze so that the same could not be identified, he added.
After setting the car blazing he returned and was planning to flee but was caught. He was arrested and the baseball bat was recovered from him, police said.
