4 held for stealing electric wires

With the arrest of four persons, police today claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in stealing electric wires in Dehat district.

Police said that almost a week ago, some miscreants had looted godowns of several companies which manufactured high-tension electric wires.

Following this, the Crime Branch of police were on the lookout for the accused.

Police said six persons were found to be involved in the loot out of which four have been arrested yesterday while the remaining two are absconding.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kaushal Chauhan, Santosh Chauhan and Ramanand, from Kanpur and Mujahid Hussain from Rai Bareli, they said.
 

Around Rs 7.73 lakh cash, two luxury cars, stolen electric wires, a truck, crane, two mobiles, two pistols and four cartridges have been seized from their possession, police said, adding, all the four have confessed to the crime and further investigations are underway.
