Four 'kanwariyas' were crushed to death while 12 others injured today after being hit by a truck near Nahraich area on Aligarh road here.
Infuriated over the accident, locals pelted stones and blocked road traffic for several hours on busy Aligarh-Agra road.
City Magistrate, Rekha S Chauhan, said the truck has been seized and a hunt was on for the driver who fled after the mishap.

Meanwhile, the UP government announced an ex gratia of Rs two lakh each to the kin of those killed in the accident.
The 'kanwariyas' were returning home in Taj Ganj area after bringing water of the Ganga river from Soron.
